Healthy Travel Foods - Almond Joy Energy Balls
Eating healthy when you are traveling is hard. Just like everything else in life, the more you prepare, the better off you will be. Because I have a lot of work travel coming up, I wanted to take the extra steps to make sure my diet doesn’t suffer in the process. Here are a few of my go-to travel foods:
- Whole fruits such as apples, bananas and tangerines. 
- Beef Jerky 
- String Cheese 
- Trail mix 
- Coconut chips or apple chips 
- Energy Balls 
My favorite Travel Snacks
These energy balls are great for the plane. Easy to make, holds well even when not refrigerated and very satisfying. I am a big coconut fan, so here is my recipe for my Almond Joy Energy Balls.
Almond Joy Energy Balls
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of old fashioned oats 
- 1 scoop of Hemp chocolate protein powder 
- 1/2 cup of almond butter 
- 2-3 tablespoons honey 
- 1/4 cup of shredded unsweetened coconut 
- 1/2 cup mini dark chocolate chips 
Directions:
Simply add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Once combined, roll into balls in your hand and place onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Pop in the freezer for about 10 minutes so they are solid. Then you an transfer to a zip lock bag or container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
